Blake Lively Thanks Mom, Husband, And Spice Girls

Blake Lively took the stage last night during the People’s Choice Awards to accept her award for “Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress” for her role in The Shallows, and she thanked many people for helping her get where she is today in her career.

She beat out some amazingly talented actresses, including Emily Blunt, Julia Roberts, Amy Adams, and Meryl Streep. As she took the stage, the announcer mentioned that this was Lively’s fifth nomination, but first win for the 29-year-old mother of two.

Lively gushed of Luke Hemsworth, who was the one to present her with the award, “I think this was a ploy to get myself up here because I love Westworld so much so I’m so excited.”

But the first person she thanked during her speech was her mother. “My momma she always taught me as a kid that you can’t let anyone ever limit you. And um, yeah, it was pretty cool. Thanks mom.” “So I was always an ambitious kid, and so I set a goal for myself as a kid, and I knew if I could accomplish this that I would be successful and I would be happy, and that was to meet the Spice Girls,” Lively admits

“But was so neat about them is that they were all so distinctly different and they were women and they owned who they were and that was my first introduction into girl power,” Lively explained. “And I’m watching this movie and the women nominated in this category and when you guys voted for this, you didn’t just vote for this movie or me but you voted for girl power and so thank you.”

She urges people to tell their stories because people want to hear stories about women because, “You need to be heard, you are valuable, and no one can limit you.”

Wrapping things up, Lively thanks her husband Ryan Reynolds, but tells screaming fans “You can’t have him, he’s mine,” proving once again that they are the cutest couple ever.
