Step Mom’s Vows Bring Four-Year-Old To Tears

“I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”

During the recent wedding between Senior Airman Emily Leehan and US Marine Corps Sergeant Joshua Newville, Newville’s four-year-old son Gage was overwhelmed with emotion, and brought tears to the eyes of all in attendance.

Leehan wrote a special wedding vow that she read on the alter to her new stepson Gage. She hardly got the first line of her vows to the little guy when he broke down, started to cry and started hugging her.

“I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest, and to be a good person” Leehan began before glancing down at Gage, seeing tears and continuing, “Don’t cry baby.”

Sgt. Newville steps in and hugs his son, saying, “Buddy, it’s ok.”

The wedding guests vary in reaction from slight chuckles, and a collective, “Awwww,” to wiping tears away while watching the sweet interaction between the newly formed family.

ABC7 uploaded the video and shared it on Facebook where it immediately went viral, racking up 1.7 million views, 31,000 reactions, over 1,000 comments, and 7,000 shares in less than 24 hours!
