Teachers Walk Students Safely Home From School Every Single Day

by

Teachers give so much of themselves to our children during the school day, but for three teachers at the Whitney Elementary School in Memphis, their work doesn’t end when the school bell rings. As seen in this photo posted by FOX13, 3rd grade teacher, Carl Schneider is walking a group of student home from school. It is something he and two other teachers do every day.

According to the principal of the school, they were having issues getting children home safely after school, so Schneider, along with four other teachers Auriel Rolle-Polk and Kevin Sullivan, Allison Thompson and Valeria Bostick bring 40 children on the mile and a half trek to their homes.

He said he actually looks forward to that time with the children who he gets to know on more of a personal level. “This is just part of my routine and it’s something that I look forward to,” Schneider told FOX13, “I was kind of surprised but at the same time I’m also really glad that people know the teachers in this community are really invested in the community.”
